DADE CITY, Fla. – The Drake University men's golf team defeated Missouri Valley Conference foe Loyola, 3.5-2.5, to place seventh on the final day of the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play event Monday, Feb. 12, at the Lake Jovita Country Club.
 
Drake was led by two of its freshman, Lucas Scherf and Shayne Patel, who each won their respective matches. Scherf dominated Vance, 7&6, while Patel edged Magee, 3&2, for this third win in three matches. Junior Kyle MacDonald won his second-straight match, beating Anderson, 2&1. Tommi Avant halved his match.
 
Drake travels to Spring, Texas, Feb. 25-26, for the Colin Montgomerie Invitational hosted by Houston Baptist University.
