MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Drake University women's tennis team split two matches during its brief one-day sojourn to Milwaukee. The Bulldogs opened the day with a 4-0 morning sweep of Milwaukee followed by a 6-1 loss at Marquette in the evening.
 
In the morning match against the Milwaukee Panthers, Drake clinched the 4-0 win at No. 4 singles when Kenya Williams won, 6-2, 7-6. That followed a 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 3 singles by Carmen Palumbo and a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 from Liza Petushkova.
 
To open the match, Palumbo teamed with Daria Walczak to win at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, while Megan Webb and Kelsey Neville claimed their doubles match, 7-6, to help the Bulldogs win the doubles point.
 
The Bulldogs opened their evening match strong, winning all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. However, that momentum faded in the singles competition as Marquette won all six singles matches and secured the win at No. 5 singles when Marquette's Lesley Foe defeated Sophia Haleas 1-6, 6-2, 6-4.
 
The 1-1 record on the day moved the Bulldogs to 4-6 this season. The team returns to action Feb. 24 with home matches against Omaha and Iowa State.
