LINCOLN, Neb. – The Drake University men's golf team finished fifth at the one-day, two-round Git-R-Done Husker Invite, hosted by the University of Nebraska Saturday, April 12, afternoon at the Firethorn Golf Club.
 
The Bulldogs, playing in their final event before the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, carded a 294-311 – 605 to finish fifth in the six-team field. Arkansas won the event at 290-277 – 567, followed by Nebraska.
 
Tommi Avant led the Bulldogs with a strong first round in carding a 69-77 – 146 to finish ninth on the individual leaderboard, six strokes behind the leaders. His opening round featured five birdies and a 2-under par 33 on his front nine to help him tie for the second-lowest opening round.
 
Lucas Scherf tied for 16^th at 75-76 – 151 while Chase Wicklund was two strokes back in a tie for 20^th at 73-80 – 153.
 
Tim Lim complete the Bulldogs' scoring at 77-78 – 155.
 
Shayne Patel also competed as an individual for Drake and finished tied for 18^th at 81-71 – 152.
 
The Bulldogs return to the course April 22-23 at the MVC Championship in Sunrise Beach, Mo.
