McGlynn Competes at Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship

Bulldog forward performs well for the Missouri Valley Conference team.

Minneapolis, Minn. – Nick McGlynn and the rest of Team MVC finished play at the Dos Equis 3X3U National Championships Saturday morning at the Mall of America.

The MVC went 0-3 in pool play of the unique three-on-three tournament and will not advance to the knockout stages of the event. McGlynn was joined by SIU's Armon Fletcher, Missouri State's Jarred Dixon and Illinois State's Phil Fayne. 

McGlynn totaled 10 points, equivalent to 19 points with traditional scoring, and 17 rebounds in 17 total minutes. The competition counted traditional three-pointers as two points and baskets inside the arc as one point. Teams played a single 10-minute period of action with the first team to score 21 or more points winning.

In a 21-18 loss to the Southland Conference, McGlynn led the team with eight rebounds and six points on 5-of-8 shooting including 1-of-1 from the arc. Armon Fletcher led the team with 22 points after racking up 12 of the MVC's 17 points in the final game of pool play.

Team MVC opened play with a 20-16 loss to the West Coast Conference followed by the 21-18 loss to the Southland. Saturday morning, the team fell 22-17 to the Ohio Valley Conference.
