Women’s Golf Collects WGCA Academic Honors

Bulldogs honored for earning the 14th best GPA in the nation

The Drake University women's golf team has collected numerous honors from the Women's Golf Coaches Association following one of the team's most successful academic seasons in program history.

The WGCA honored the Bulldogs for having the 14th highest team grade point average in the nation. Drake recorded a team GPA of 3.73 during 2018-19, the highest in program history.

"I'm so proud of the ladies and how hard they work in the classroom," said Drake head coach Rachael Pruett. "It's certainly not easy to do with the class we miss and I'm proud of how well they manage their academics."

Additionally, a total of four Drake University women's golfers were named WGCA All-American Scholars by the organization.

The Bulldogs' Aimee Gerschke, Sam Paulak, Sigurlaug Jonsdottir and Kristen Giles all earned the prestigious honor.

The WGCA All-American Scholar designation is one of the most stringent in collegiate athletics with honorees needing to earn a 3.5 or better grade point average to receive the honor.
