Football Places Four on 2019 Preseason All-PFL Team

ST. LOUIS – Drake University's Gavin Dineen, Steven Doran, Erin Morgan and Will Warner were named to the 2019 Preseason All-Pioneer Football League Team as selected by the league's head coaches, the league office announced Monday, July 29.

The PFL will announce its preseason coaches' poll Tuesday.

Doran, a repeat All-PFL Preseason selection, nearly hit the 1,000-yard mark at wide receiver last season. An All-PFL Second Team choice in 2018, his 920 yards finished 26th among FCS wideouts and he caught 12 touchdown passes.

Dinnen was a 2018 All-PFL First Team selection who recorded 3.0 sacks and 38 tackles at defensive tackle for the Bulldogs. Morgan was selected to the 2018 All-PFL Second Team after he tallied 3.5 sacks, 8.0 tackles for loss and 21 tackles at defensive end. Warner, an All-PFL First-Team pick in 2018 at safety, led the PFL and ranked second among FCS defenders with eight interceptions in 2018. The trio of Bulldogs helped lead a defense that was one of the best in the nation as the unit ranked ninth nationally in scoring defense (19.1 ppg), ninth in total defense (296.0 ypg), sixth in rushing defense (96.8 ypg), 10th in interceptions (17 INT), 10th in tackles for loss (8.1 TFL/g) and 15th in defensive touchdowns (3).

Returning players named to the league's 2018 All-PFL Teams were placed automatically on the 2019 Preseason All-PFL team in order of voting. Nine First-Team All-PFL honorees return for the 2018 season. Also, 14 Second-Team All-PFL selections and six honorable mention recipients join the 2018 preseason squad.

The upcoming 2019 season marks the 27th year for the Pioneer Football League – the nation's only non-scholarship, football-only NCAA Football Championship Subdivision conference. The league will feature 10 teams each playing an eight-game schedule to determine the league champion and recipient of the automatic bid to the NCAA FCS Championship.

Drake starts the 2019 season Aug. 31 at North Dakota. The Bulldogs host Truman State Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. in their home opener at Drake Stadium.
