Volleyball To Host Annual Season Kickoff Breakfast Sept. 6

Bulldogs to join fans in previewing the 2019 season

The Drake University volleyball team will host its second-annual Season Kickoff Breakfast Friday, Sept. 6, at 7:30 a.m. in the Courtside Club.

The annual breakfast comes on the morning of the team's home opener and start of the Hotel Renovo/Hotel Revel Drake Invitational. In addition to the breakfast, attendees will also get a preview of the 2019 season from seventh-year head coach Darrin McBroom and student-athletes as part of the hour-long event.

"We had a great turnout for this inaugural event last year and I really appreciated the support that we received," McBroom said. "It is a great opportunity for our community to connect with our student-athletes before we get too deep into the season and it serves as a kick-off for the Drake Invitational that opens the same day."

The cost of breakfast is $15 per person. Fans interested in attending should RSVP to head coach Darrin McBroom at darrin.mcbroom@drake.edu.

The Bulldogs are coming off a historic season in which they advanced to the MVC Tournament semi-finals for the first time since 1998 and the program's first postseason tournament (NIVC) since 1995. Under McBroom's guidance, the Bulldogs are also coming off back-to-back 20 wins seasons for the first time since 2010.

Following the breakfast, the Bulldogs begin their 2019 home schedule Friday evening against Eastern Washington at 7 p.m. The four-team tournament continues Saturday morning when Drake takes on Milwaukee at 11 a.m. and Saint Louis at 5 p.m. Tickets for the Drake Invitational are available at DrakeTix.com.
