Junior defensive back
Jeran Proctor (Johnston, Iowa) is the Pioneer Football League Defensive Player of the Week, the PFL announced Sunday. Proctor earned his first PFL player of the week honor after he helped Drake cruise to a 41-17 road win at Marist Saturday in the team's league opener.
Proctor, who finished with three tackles including one tackle for loss, picked off a Red Foxes' pass late in the second quarter and returned it 54 yards. Two plays later, the Bulldogs scored with 11 seconds left that gave them a 27-3 lead.
Proctor has played in all four games this season and made three starts. He is tied for fifth in tackles with 16. His interception was the third in his career.
Proctor and his teammates return to Drake Stadium Saturday, Oct. 5 against Valparaiso. Kickoff against the Crusaders is set for 1 p.m.
