Women's Volleyball Drake Athletic Communications

Volleyball Hosts Drake Invitational At The Knapp Center

Bulldogs welcome Eastern Washington, Milwaukee and Saint Louis for two days of volleyball action.

The Drake University volleyball team hosts three teams at the Knapp Center this weekend for the annual Drake Invitational presented by Hotel Renovo/Revel Hotel.

Joining the Bulldogs in the two-day, six-match event is Eastern Washington, Milwaukee and Saint Louis.

Drake begins competition Friday evening against Eastern Washington at 7 p.m. in the Bulldogs' home opener. Drake then faces Milwaukee Saturday at 11 a.m. and closes the tournament against Saint Louis at 5 p.m.

The Bulldogs return home with a 2-1 record on the young season after last weekend's EIU Panther Classic. Haley Bush was named the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week following the tournament. 

She led Drake with 48 kills while hitting .272 in 12 total sets. She closed the weekend with a staggering 26 kills in the four-set win over Eastern Illinois and added 10 digs for her second-straight double-double. Those 26 kills were the most by a Bulldog in a match since the 2015 season.
 
Junior Emily Plock also had a strong start to the season with 44 kills during the opening weekend and aims to build upon that at home this week.

Friday, Sept. 6
Noon - Milwaukee vs. Eastern Washington
4 p.m. - Saint Louis vs. Milwaukee
7 p.m. - Drake vs. Eastern Washington

Saturday, Sept. 7
11 a.m. - Drake vs. Milwaukee
2 p.m. - Eastern Washington vs. Saint Louis
5 p.m. - Drake vs. Saint Louis
