DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University men's golf team has signed
Jack Dumas (LeClaire, Iowa) and
Nikko Ganas (Schaumburg, Ill.) to National Letters of Intent for the 2021-22 season, Drake head coach
Matt Lewis announced Thursday, Nov. 12.
"This class of Jack and Nikko has the potential to be very special," Lewis said. "They each have great work ethics and are determined to be the best they can be. I am very excited for the two of them to become Bulldogs and for the chance to coach them."
This past fall, Dumas concluded an outstanding high school career for Pleasant Valley High School in Riverdale, Iowa. He helped Pleasant Valley twice finish runner-up and collect a third place finish at the Iowa Class 4A State Championship. As an individual, Dumas place fifth at the state championship in back-to-back years of 2019 and 2020 to earn first-team all-state honors each year. He lowered his individual scoring average each season, helped the Spartans win four-straight Mississippi Athletic Conference titles and three-straight district championships. He had two Top-10
American Junior Golf Association finishes in 2020.
"Jack will be a great addition to our team," Lewis said. "He is the No. 1 prep golfer from Iowa in the 2021 class according to Junior Golf Scoreboard. Jack had a tremendous summer with several top finishes in regional and national junior golf tournaments. He will make an impact on our team next year."
Ganas recently completed a great high school career for James B. Conant High School in Hoffman Estates, Ill. He served as a team captain his final season, was the individual medalist at the 2020 Mid-Suburban League Championship and was named the 2020 Mid-Suburban League Player of the Year. He added team most valuable player honors, its sportsmanship award and recorded the lowest scoring average in school history at 35.6. Ganas had the program's first-ever hole-in-one at a tournament his junior year.
"Nikko will also be a great addition to our team," Lewis said. "He is one of the top junior golfers from Illinois. Nikko had a very successful summer competing in regional and national junior golf tournaments. He is a very hard worker who has a ton of experience. I expect Nikko to also make an impact on our team next year."
