The 2021 Pioneer Football League spring schedule for the Drake University football team has been announced by the PFL office.
Drake's spring schedule includes three home games at Drake Stadium. Marist University will visit for the season opener on March 13. Presbyterian College, the PFL's newest member, travels to Des Moines on April 3 for the first-ever meeting between the schools. Longtime PFL rival, Butler University, will visit on April 17 to close the spring season.
In November, the PFL Presidents Council, as advanced by the PFL athletic directors and coaches, endorsed a six-game conference season to be played in the spring of 2021. The council moved forward to provide a meaningful competitive experience for PFL football student-athletes if conditions allow. This spring model gives PFL teams the opportunity to earn the PFL championship title and the automatic qualifier to the 2021 NCAA FCS Spring Playoffs.
The PFL fully recognizes that this is an aspirational plan given the current severe state of the coronavirus pandemic and the many unknowns in the coming months for the country, the diverse set of states in which PFL schools exist and the institutions themselves. Consequently, individual institutions may, at their sole discretion, choose to opt out of the 2021 PFL spring season at any time.
All kickoff times will be announced at a later date on
