ST. LOUIS – Senior
Becca Hittner (Urbandale, Iowa) of the Drake University women's basketball team is the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, the MVC office announced Monday, Feb. 10 afternoon. It is Hittner's seventh career MVC Player of the Week award.
Hittner posted impressive numbers this past weekend helping Drake split a pair of home games. She averaged 27.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 block per game while shooting a blistering 58.3 percent (14-of-24) from the floor, 69.2 percent (9-of-13) from beyond the arc and made 17-of-18 (94.4 percent) at the free throw line.
In the win over SIU, she poured in a game-high 31 points, including making a career-high seven three pointers and just missed a double-double with nine rebounds to go with five assists. Hittner followed in the loss to No. 24/19 Missouri State with 23 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Her nine three-pointers on the weekend helped her move all the way to No. 2 all-time in school history with 241 career threes. Lindsay Whorton (2004-08) has the top total with 266 three-pointers. Hittner needs to score just nine points to reach 2,000 in her career.
Hittner, the back-to-back Jackie Stiles MVC Player of the Year and the league's top scorer the past two seasons, is averaging a conference-leading 18.5 points per game.
Drake travels to Evansville Thursday night for a 6 p.m. contest on ESPN+.
