Becca Hittner (Urbandale, Iowa) and
Sara Rhine (Eldon, Mo.) of the Drake University women's basketball team garnered College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District first team honors for the second-straight year, the organization announced Thursday, Feb. 20.
The pair are the ninth and 10th Drake student-athletes to earn CoSIDA All-District honors in 2019-20. Rhine, who has already graduated with her bachelor's degree in elementary education with a 4.00 cumulative grade point average, has a 4.00 GPA in her master's program in counseling. Hittner owns an impressive 3.97 GPA in marketing. Last season, Rhine was selected to the Academic All-America first team while Hittner was picked to the third team.
On the basketball court, Hittner and Rhine each surpassed 2,000 career points this season. The duo are the first-ever men's or women's Missouri Valley Conference teammates to reach the impressive total together. Hittner leads the MVC in scoring at 18.2 points per game while Rhine is tied for second at 17.6 points. Rhine is the top-shooter in the Valley with a blistering 66.3 percent from the field.

To qualify for the 2019-20 CoSIDA Academic All-District team, a nominee must hold a cumulative 3.30 grade point average, must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in March.
Kathleen Doyle of Iowa, Ciara Duffy of South Dakota and Alexa Willard of Missouri State round out the District 6 team.
