ST. LOUIS – Becca Hittner of the Drake University women's basketball team has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the Valley announced Wednesday.
To qualify for the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Spotlight, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes are evaluated on their campus involvement and community service.
Hittner, a senior from Urbandale, Iowa, holds a 3.97 GPA as a marketing major. She was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team in 2018 and 2019, and she also earned CoSIDA Academic Third-Team honors in 2019.
The two-time defending Jackie Stiles MVC Player of the Year, Hittner currently leads the Valley in scoring (18.3 PPG).
Drake (20-7, 12-3 MVC) travels to Chicago for a meeting with Loyola on Friday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.
