Becca Hittner (Urbandale, Iowa) of the Drake University women's basketball team is the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, the MVC office announced Monday, March 2.
Hittner is the second-straight Drake student-athlete to win the MVC's top weekly award after teammate
Sara Rhine won it last week. It is the second MVC Player of the Week this season for Hittner and the eighth in her career.
Hittner nearly averaged a double-double in a pair of Drake road wins this past weekend. In the victories over Loyola and Valparaiso, she averaged 22.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game while shooting 48.0 percent (12-of-25) from the floor and 50.0 percent (6-of-12) from beyond the arc.
In the Loyola win, Hittner recorded her sixth double-double with a game-high 21 points and 11 rebounds to go with five assists. In the Valpo victory, Hittner poured in a game-high 23 points to go with seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Hittner leads the MVC in scoring at 18.6 points per game and scored 20-plus points in 11 games this season and 35 times in her career.
Hittner and her teammates close the regular season at in-state rival UNI Friday at 6:30 p.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
