Blake Boldon, the Franklin P. Johnson Director of the Drake Relays and acting director of Drake track & field and cross country, has been named to the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee. Boldon is one of 12 national members on the committee who represent the interest of both men's and women's track and field and cross country interests. His term began Sept. 1, 2020 and will run until Aug., 2024.
In addition to his extensive background with the Drake Relays and event administration, Boldon has also enjoyed successful coaching tenures at Penn, UAB and Iowa State.
During his coaching career, Boldon worked with six athletes who went on to compete in the Olympics. While at Iowa State, he worked with the U.S. Junior National Cross Country champion and the NCAA runner-up in the mile. The Cyclone men also qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championship for the first time in decade during his tenure and he helped coach the American collegiate record holder in the 10,000 meters.
Boldon, who inducted into the Missouri State Athletics Hall of Fame in January, was a five-time Missouri Valley Conference champion who earned four top-10 finishes at USATF Championships as a professional athlete.
