ST. LOUIS – Grace Berg of the Drake University women's basketball team has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week for the fifth time this season, the MVC announced Tuesday, Jan. 19.
 
Berg helped Drake complete its second-straight series sweep with two big home wins over Indiana State. She averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals while shooting 60.0 percent (15-of-25) from the floor and 75.0 percent (3-of-4) from three.
 
In the first victory, Berg scored 16 points, grabbed seven rebounds and handed out three assists in just 25 minutes. In the final win, she scored a game-high 22 points, her fifth 20-plus game of the season, along with handing out a career-high five assists to go with two blocks and two steals, also in just 25 minutes.
 
Berg is third in the MVC in scoring with a career-high 16.3 points clip while leading the league in shooting percentage at 50.9 (career-high) and is second in free throw percentage at 86.7.
 
Drake travels to Missouri State for two games on Jan. 22-23.
