EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Drake University women's basketball team completed a series sweep of Evansville with a 76-43 win on Friday night inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse.
Grace Berg led Drake (5-6, 3-1 MVC) with a career-high 27 points while six other Bulldogs scored six or more points. Drake held Evansville (4-5, 0-4 MVC) to its lowest points total by an opponent this season.
The Bulldogs tallied an impressive 25 assists on 29 field goals in the win. After making just two of its first 15 field goals, Drake made 27-of-41 (65.9 percent) shots to close the game.
Drake outscored Evansville, 27-8, in the second period after a tough offensive showing in the opening quarter. Trailing 8-6, the Bulldogs made 11-of-15 from the floor, including four from behind the three-point line, and forced 11 turnovers to lead 33-16 at halftime.
The Bulldogs broke open the game with an 11-0 run to start the third quarter as they scored 27 points in the third. Drake led by as many as 38 points in the fourth helping it win back-to-back games for the first time this season. The Bulldogs scored 29 points off of 27 Purple Ace's turnovers.
Kierra Collier and
Maggie Bair each scored eight points while Collier had six assists and Bair six rebounds and three blocks.
Allie Wooldridge continues to fill the stat sheet with six points, six boards, five assists and two steals. Freshman
Courtney Becker scored a career-high seven points and added five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Maddie Monahan had seven points and four assists. Monahan moved to No. 9 all-time at Drake in career assists with 390.
Drake returns to the Knapp Center to host Indiana State Jan. 15-16.
