DES MOINES, Iowa – Evansville rallied in the final set against the Drake University volleyball team Saturday night in a thrilling back-and-forth Missouri Valley Conference match at the Knapp Center.
Evansville (15-4, 5-3 MVC), which took the first two sets Saturday, won its fifth-straight MVC match after it came back from a five-point deficit in the fifth set. Drake (8-8, 3-5 MVC) forced a deciding final set by winning the third and fourth sets.
Haley Bush, who missed Friday's match due to injury, had a team-high 15 kills for the Bulldogs.
Mariana Rodrigues had 14 kills while Jada Willis added 11.
Giulia Cardona and Alondra Vazquez each had a match-high 21 kills for the Purple Aces.
Drake led 10-5 in the fifth, but after a timeout called by Evansville, the Purple Aces scored 10 of the final 12 points to clinch the first match of the season between the teams. The two teams will rematch on Nov. 12 in Evansville, Ind.
The Bulldogs head to Illinois next weekend for matches at Bradley (Oct. 22) and at Illinois State (Oct. 23).
