The Drake University men's and women's tennis teams competed at the ITA Division I Central Regional Championship over the weekend. The women played at the University of Iowa and the men competed at the University of Nebraska.
 
For the women, sophomore Ines Stephani was the only Bulldog to win a singles match, but fell to Rachel Hanford of Minnesota, 6-4, 6-1.
 
The doubles team of Millie Haagensen and Darinka Stephan topped a team from Oral Roberts, but later lost to Minnesota, 6-4.
 
The women are set to host the Bulldogs Classic Nov. 5 through the 7.
 
The men's team collected eight wins in the singles portion of the weekend. Redshirt Sophomore Oliver Johansson won two matches before falling to Welsh Hotard from Okalhoma.
 
Drake doubles pair Johansson and Jeremy Schifris beat teams from Wichita State and Saint Louis. But the duo lost to a pair from Arkansas.
 
The men are back in action as they are set to host the Drake Cup Oct. 29 through 31.
