Bulldog Breakdown

Drake enters Saturday's contest with a 14–4 overall record and has put together a strong season highlighted by consistent production throughout its lineup. The Bulldogs have also been dominant at home, holding a perfect 9–0 record at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center this spring.

The Bulldogs continue to be led by depth in singles play. Sam Melaga holds a team-best 12–1 dual record, while Arin Menon has added 12 wins of his own and enters the match at 12–2. Jose Hernandez has also been a steady contributor with a 9–3 record this season.

In the upper half of the lineup, Alan Gonzalez and Ben Johnson have each recorded eight singles victories. Christian Winstead has added four wins at the top spot, contributing in key moments throughout the season.

Drake's balance has been a defining strength, with multiple players contributing across all six singles positions.

In doubles play, the pairing of Adan Tarquino and Ulysse Verrando has emerged as Drake's most reliable tandem with a 5–4 record. The duo of Gonzalez and Johnson has also seen extensive action together and enters the match with a 5–5 record, while Alex Yeager and Arin Menon have matched that mark at 5–5.

Overall, Drake's depth, strong individual performances and unbeaten home record position the Bulldogs well as they return to Des Moines.

Scouting Wichita State

Wichita State enters the matchup with a 12–9 overall record and is coming off a 4–2 loss to VCU on March 27.

Darragh Glavin, who is in his fourth season as head coach of the Shockers, has overseen steady growth within the program. During the 2024–25 campaign, Glavin led Wichita State to a 12–13 record, marking a seven-win improvement from the previous season and the program's best win total since 2021.

Under his leadership, the Shockers returned to the ITA rankings and earned a first-round victory in the American Athletic Conference Championship. Glavin, a former standout at Old Dominion, also brings experience from assistant coaching roles at Miami, Delaware and Princeton, where he helped develop multiple all-conference and nationally ranked players.

Wichita State has shown the ability to compete closely in dual matches and will look to challenge Drake on the road.
