The Drake University women's basketball team is set to host No. 14 Iowa State on Thursday Nov. 18 at the Knapp Center. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN+. Tickets are available for purchase on draketix.com and range from $10 to $14.
The Drake Bookstore (Spike's Locker Room) is hosting a food drive to support the Little Free Pantry during the game. The nationally ranked Cyclones will be the highest ranked team the women's program has hosted at the Knapp Center during the 2000's.
During the 1999 season, the Bulldogs hosted the Cyclones who were then ranked No. 9 and upset them 90-86.
The Bulldogs fell to South Dakota Monday evening, 61-46. Junior's
Maggie Bair and
Megan Meyer each tallied 10 points. Bair added five rebounds and two steals for Drake. She also tied her career high of two three pointers made on two attempts.
Redshirt junior
Grace Berg added eight points, six rebounds, and three steals for Drake. Two of her three steals came in the fourth quarter and helped Drake minimize the Coyotes lead.
Drake struggled to score for the first three minutes of the game, but Bair put them on the board with a three.
The Bulldogs were outrebounded by the Coyotes 40-34.
Iowa State comes to Des Moines on a two-game winning-streak, after defeating South Dakota State on Monday Nov. 15.
The Cyclones were led by sophomore Lexi Donarski and senior Ashley Jones, who combined for 39 of the Cyclones 75 points.
Iowa State grabbed 28 defensive rebounds against South Dakota State.
The Cyclones lead the all-time series with the Bulldogs 31-29 and won the last meeting last season.
After their meeting the Cyclones, the Bulldogs will travel to Iowa City to take on Iowa on Sunday Nov. 21.
