Football Travels to Davidson For Regular Season Finale

Drake Football will travel to Pioneer Football League co-leader Davidson for a regular season finale Saturday at 12 pm. The game will be aired on Hope 940 AM with Chuck Reed on the call and will be broadcast on Davidson All-Access.

Drake (2-7, 1-5 PFL) is coming off of a hard-fought loss at home on senior day to St. Thomas 21-14. Drake trailed 14-0 at half before mounting a second-half comeback. Ian Corwin's 6-yard touchdown pass to Caden Meis brought the Bulldogs to within a score with 5:26 remaining, however the St. Thomas offense was able to pick up enough first downs on the ensuing possession to run out the game clock.

The Bulldogs will look to play the spoiler as Davidson (7-2, 6-1 PFL) will earn at least a share of the conference title with a win. Davidson is tied with San Diego for best in the conference with six wins. The Wildcats will be looking to avenge their lone loss of conference play at the hands of Dayton 38-29 last Saturday.

Six of the last seven PFL losses for the Bulldogs have come by a margin of a touchdown or less, and Drake boasts one of the best defenses in the PFL. Defensive Coordinator Al Smith's defense comes into the game ranked second in the PFL in total defense, pass defense and interceptions. They will match up against a Davidson offense ranked second in scoring and touchdowns scored. Davidson's offense is led by running back Coy Williams, who is second in the conference with 12 rushing touchdowns.
