The Drake University women's basketball team heads to Reno, Nev. for the Nugget Classic presented by the University of Nevada. The Bulldogs will face the host in their first game of the tournament on Friday Nov. 26 at 4pm CST.
The Bulldogs head to Reno on a two-game losing streak, after falling to South Dakota and Iowa State. The Bulldogs were scheduled to face Iowa on Sunday Nov. 21, but the meeting was canceled after positive COVID-19 tests within the Hawkeye program.
The Bulldogs meeting with the Wolf Pack will be the first in program history.
Against South Dakota, junior
Megan Meyer and senior
Maggie Bair each tallied 10 points. Meyer added three assists for the Bulldogs.
Drake was unable to minimize the scoring deficit against the Coyotes.
In their match-up with Iowa State, freshman
Katie Dinnebier tallied a career high 19 points and five assists.
Redshirt-junior
Grace Berg tallied 17 points, three rebounds, and three steals. Berg picked up two steals late in the second half to help the Bulldogs score.
Nevada hosts the Bulldogs after defeating Utah Valley 70-64.
Freshman guard Audrey Roden led the Wolf Pack with 17 points and five rebounds. Senior guard Nia Alexander added 15 points, four rebounds, and three steals.
Nevada tallied seven turnovers, compared to Utah Valley's 15.
After facing Nevada, Drake will play San Francisco on Saturday Nov. 27 at 6:30pm CST.
