Allison Pohlman's first game at the helm of the storied Drake women's basketball program, the multiple new faces impressed Bulldog fans.
Of those new faces,
Megan Meyer shined the most in her debut for Drake. The junior guard from Mason City, Iowa, who transferred to Drake from Iowa this summer, led all first-half scorers with 9 points including two-for-two from the three-point line. In the second half Meyer added 11 points on 66% shooting to lead all scorers with a game-high 20 points. Meyer also contributed five rebounds and three assists.
Drake's
Grace Berg opened scoring on the first possession of the game with two free throws. Grand View briefly led 5-4 following a three by Grand View's Brianna Jensen at the 7:50 mark, but the Bulldogs immediately regained the lead on a layup by Berg. Back and forth scoring by both teams rounded out the first quarter with the Bulldogs holding a five-point advantage 13-8.

nd quarter began a 17-0 run by the Bulldogs opening their lead to 30-8 with 6:07 to play in the half. A steady dose of second quarter offensive output and defensive performance by the Bulldogs extended their lead to 18 with a 37-19 advantage as time expired to close the first half of play.
The Bulldogs continued their offensive firepower shooting 66% in the second half. Following a quick two-pointer by Grand View, Drake scored the next 12 points, seven of which were tallied by
Grace Berg. A layup from
Megan Meyer with 2:51 to play extended the lead to 57-29. The quarter closed with a buzzer-beating layup by freshman
Katie Dinnebier to bring Drake's lead to 34 at 67-34.
Grace Berg reminded Bulldog fans why she was named the 2021 MVC Newcomer of the Year as she filled multiple stat categories. The redshirt junior from Indianola, IA finished with 16 points, two rebounds, one block, and one assist in 24 minutes of action.

Katie Dinnebier got the start in her first game wearing the blue and white. The freshman from Waukee, IA contributed 10 points, two assists, and three steals in 22 minutes of action.
Anna Miller, a 6-3 forward from Rochester, Minn. played an efficient 14 minutes with 11 points, five rebounds and three blocks.
The Bulldogs return to action in their final exhibition game Saturday at noon when Drake hosts Minnesota State in the Knapp Center.
