Football Travels to Marist

Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT, the game will be streamed on ESPN3 and broadcast on Hope 940 AM .

The Drake football team heads to Poughkeepsie, NY to face Pioneer Football League foe Marist (3-4, 3-2 PFL) Saturday following two weeks off. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT. The game will be televised on ESPN3 and broadcast on Hope 940 AM. Live stats will be available through the Marist website.

The game will be the first action for Drake (2-5, 1-3 PFL) since a narrow 10-13 loss at San Diego October 16. The Bulldogs' next game vs. Stetson scheduled for October 23 was canceled by the Pioneer Football League due to COVID-19 issues within Drake's Tier I personnel, which consists of student-athletes, coaches, managers and staff. A bye week followed the Stetson cancelation.

Drake's last outing at San Diego was a defensive battle as both offenses struggled to put points on the board. The old adage that defense travels is good news third-year head coach Todd Stepsis and the Bulldogs, as Drake's defense possesses the second-best scoring defense in the PFL with 22 points per game. Drake has only given up 18 touchdowns this year which is also second best among PFL foes.

The Bulldogs' defense will look to stifle a Marist offense that is averaging 91 yards per game on the ground and 162 through the air. The Red Foxes are averaging 20 points per game.

Saturday will be the 9th meeting between the two schools. Drake has not lost to Marist, winning each of the previous eight meetings by an average of more than two touchdowns. The last meeting dates back over two years to when the Bulldogs took down the Red Foxes 41-17 September, 28, 2019 in Poughkeepsie.
