The Drake University women's basketball team is set to host Creighton on Wednesday Nov. 10 for the Bulldogs season opener. Tipoff is set for 6p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+. Tickets are available for purchase at draketix.com and fans are asked to wear white.
The Bulldogs hosted two exhibition games prior to their season opener and topped both Grand View and Minnesota State.
Wednesday's game will be Suzie Glazer Burt head coach
Allison Pohlman's first season opener with the title of head coach. She served as an associate coach for the past seven years and has been a part of the program since 2007.
The Bulldogs meeting with the Bluejays will be their 69th meeting in the two programs history. The last time the two teams met, Drake topped Creighton 75-62, in Omaha, Neb.. Drake leads the all-time series 42-27.
Drake returns two of their five starters, All-MVC First Team member
Maddie Petersen and MVC Newcomer of the Year,
Grace Berg. The Bulldogs also return MVC Sixth Player of the Year,
Maggie Bair.
Between the teams two exhibition games, the trio combined for 54 points and 30 rebounds.
In Drake's last meeting with Creighton, Berg scored 24 points and the Bulldogs forced 15 turnovers from the Bluejays.
Joining the team this fall is freshman
Katie Dinnebier and junior transfer
Megan Meyer. Dinnebier was named Miss Iowa Basketball during her senior season at Waukee High School. Meyer transferred from Iowa, where she spent two seasons and averaged 2.3 points per game.
After their meeting with the Bluejays, the Bulldogs will host South Dakota on Monday Nov. 15.
