The Drake University women's basketball team is set to host the battle of the dogs against Northern Illinois on Sunday Dec. 12 in the Knapp Center. Tipoff is set for 2p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
In their meeting on Sunday, five of the Bulldogs will have appeared in the last meeting with NIU, dating back to Dec. 29, 2020 –
Maddie Petersen,
Allie Wooldridge,
Hannah Fuller,
Sarah Beth Gueldner, and
Maggie Bair all made appearances in the game.
The Bulldogs are on a five-game winning-streak after defeating Simpson College 101-57. This was the second game in a row the Bulldogs have scored 100 points or more.
Drake made a season high 13 shots from beyond the arc. Freshman guard
Katie Dinnebier went 3-for-3 and junior guard
Megan Meyer went 3-for-6. Dinnebier finished with 15 points and Meyer finished with 11.
Junior forward
Maggie Bair led the team with 17 points. She added four assists and three rebounds to the books.
Courtney Becker led the team with her career high 13 rebounds. She added three assists and 10 points for Drake.
The Huskie's head to Des Moines on a two game losing streak after falling to Eastern Illinois 81-87. Junior guard Chelby Koker led NIU with 29 points and 11 assists.
Redshirt-junior guard Janae Poisson leads NIU in three-point shooting this season. She has shot .333 from the arc, making 20 of 60 shots. She averages 13.2 points per game.
NIU recorded 11 second-chance points and 18 bench points against Eastern Illinois.
This season, the Huskies have topped two other Missouri Valley Conference teams, Illinois State and Bradley.
After hosting the Huskies, Drake will hit the road to take on Nebraska, in Omaha, on Sunday Dec. 19. Tipoff is slated for 12pm.
