Drake University starting women's basketball guard, Katie Dinnebier, earned Newcomer of the Week, as announced by the Missouri Valley Conference on Monday Dec. 27. 

Dinnebier, the lone freshman in the Bulldogs starting lineup, leads the team in assists this season with 45 and averages 4.10 per game. She is currently ranked in the top 200 in the country for assists this season. 

Out of the five freshman on the Bulldogs roster, Dinnebier currently leads the class in scoring as she averages 10.6 points per game. In four of the Bulldogs last five games, Dinnebier has scored in double-digits.

In Drake's most recent matchup, Dinnebier scored 14 points and recorded four assists against Minnesota. Three of the four assists came in the fourth quarter when she passed to two teammates who combined for three made shots from behind the arc. 

Drake begins MVC play on Thursday Dec. 30 as they take on Indiana State at home.
