CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Drake University softball team closed its trip to the UNI-Dome Tournament Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 win over Omaha.
Drake (2-3) lost its first game Sunday to Iowa State, 10-1. But bounced back in its second game led by senior pitcher
Nicole Timmons. Timmons (1-1) struck out nine Mavericks while scattering five hits for her first win of the season and the 34
th in her career.

Skylar Rigby each had two hits and one RBI. Lara's RBI came on a sacrifice fly in the fifth that scored sophomore
Delaney Taylor while Rigby's RBI single in the seventh scored Lara and added a Bulldogs' insurance run. Senior
Macy Johnson scored Drake's other run in the fifth off a Mavericks' wild pitch.
Omaha's best scoring opportunity came in the sixth when it loaded the bases with one out. However, Timmons settled in and got back-to-back strikeouts to escape.
In the first of four scheduled games against Iowa State this season, the Cyclones scored two runs in the first with two outs off freshman pitcher
Emma Richards. Drake cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning with Lara's RBI single up the middle that scored Johnson. But Iowa State, which improved to 5-0 on the young season, seized control with two-run innings in the second and third and then finished with a pair of runs in the sixth and seventh.
Richards (1-1) took her first career loss after allowing six earned runs on seven hits with one strikeout and two walks in two innings.
Allie Timmons pitched five innings in relief and allowed four runs (two earned) on three hits with four walks and four strikeouts.
