Men's Tennis Begins 2021 Season vs. NIU

Bulldogs to play their first match in nearly a year when they take to the courts at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center

The Drake University men's tennis team hosts Northern Illinois to its their 2020-21 season this weekend. Northern Illinois visits the Roger Knapp Tennis Center Saturday for a 5 p.m. match.

Davidson Kozlowski is entering his ninth year as head coach for the Bulldogs. Kozlowski is currently 148-85 after his first eight campaigns, with seven winning seasons and six NCAA appearances in his tenure. Drake has faced Northern Illinois seven times in the last nine years with six wins in the series.

The Bulldogs are composed of much youth, getting contributions from three redshirt-freshmen along with three talented incoming freshmen. Drake's most experienced asset is a redshirt-junior, Freddie Powell.

Northern Illinois comes into Saturday's with six matches to their credit. The team was 5-0 prior to Thursday night's match at Marquette.

Northern Illinois beat Drake in their outing last year in a close match, 3-4.


Following Saturday, the Bulldogs will stay at home to face off against Utah on Feb. 25.
