Volleyball Welcomes Valparaiso For MVC Series

Bulldogs challenge the Crusaders in two-match series on Sunday and Monday.

The Drake University volleyball team is back after a weekend off in which a pair of conference matches against Missouri State were postponed due to COVID-19 protocols. The Bulldogs welcome Valparaiso to the Knapp Center for a conference series that will consist of matches on both Sunday and Monday. The first serve Sunday is scheduled for 2 p.m. while the Monday match is set to begin at 5 p.m.

Drake (6-3, 4-2 MVC) sits just one spot behind Missouri State, the Missouri Valley Conference leader in the early league standings. The Bulldogs lead the league in hitting percentage (.180) and opponent hitting percentage, allowing just .155. The Bulldogs also remain in second place in the conference in digs, averaging 19.85 digs a set.

Valparaiso finds itself in seventh place in the Missouri Valley Conference going into this weekend with a 3-5 conference record and a 4-6 record overall. Valpo split its last conference series against Illinois State. The team overcame a 3-1 loss in the first match to win 3-2 in the second match.
