DES MOINES, Iowa – In its first action in two weeks, the Drake University volleyball team showed a little rust in falling behind early in a 3-1 loss to Valparaiso Sunday afternoon.
Valparaiso (5-6, 4-5 MVC) cruised to a 2-0 lead with 25-15 and 25-18 set wins before Drake rallied back to take the third set, 26-24. Unfortunately for Drake (6-4, 4-3 MVC), Valpo answered back with a 25-19 win in the fourth set to take the match.
Kylee Macke tried to keep the Bulldogs in the contest with a game-high 28 digs while
Kacie Rewerts added a career-high six blocks. Unfortunately, it could not overcome a Valpo team that hit .247 in the win with Jaclyn Buhlman recording 18 kills.
Drake's offense was paced by 14 kills from Emily Plcok and 13 from
Haley Bush as the Bulldogs hit .119. Plock also added four blocks.
The two teams return to the Knapp Center court Monday evening to close their MVC series with a 5 p.m. first serve.
