DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University volleyball team completed the series sweep against Bradley Monday evening with a 3-1 victory over the Braves at the Knapp Center.
The Bulldogs prevailed by set scores of 25-19, 18-25, 25-20, 25-19 to improve to 6-1 on the season and sit on top of the Missouri Valley Conference standings at 4-0. The Bulldogs opened the series Sunday with a 3-1 win.
Setter
Caitlyn Smith recorded a career-high 54 assists in the victory as she set up an offensive attack that hit .289 in the win and sided out at 70 percent or better in the three sets it won. Sophomore
Haley Bush fed off Smith's sets as she had a season-high 22 kills on 55 attempts with just one error.
Emily Plock added 12 kills,
Jada Wills 11 and
Macy DeLeye posted a career-best 10 kills from her middle position.
Smith also added a career-best 19 digs for her sixth double-double in seven games while freshman
Halle Wolfe added 16 in her most significant action of the season.
Bradley (1-3, 1-3 MVC) was led by four Braves with double-figure kills and Hannah Thompson's 12 kills on 42 attempts with six errors leading the way.
The Bulldogs take to the road next weekend to continue their MVC season Feb. 14-15 at Illinois State.
