The Drake University men's and women's cross country teams head to Evansville, Ind. for the Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championships Wednesday, March 3.
The traditional fall championship was postponed due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic and Wednesday's races will serve as the league's annual championship. The women's team will race a 5,000m race at 12:05 p.m. CST, followed by the men's 8,000m race at 12:45 p.m. CST. Both races will be contested at the Angel Mounds Cross Country Course and concurrent with local and MVC policies, fan attendance will not be permitted.
The men's team will look to improve upon its second-place team finish from 2019. The team returns Adam Fogg who finished 12th overall in 2019, as well as Isaac Basten who was 21st. That pair is coming off two MVC Indoor Championship titles last weekend as Basten won the 5,000 meters while Fogg claimed the 3,000-meter crown to complete a month that saw him break the 4-minute mark in the mile twice.
The women will look to improve upon their 8th place finish from 2019. They return senior Elizabeth Aho who has just capped a stellar indoor campaign.
