Four Bulldogs Earn MVC Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Honors

Bulldogs honored for their performance in competition and the classroom

Four members of the Drake University cross country teams have been named to the Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team, the league announced Wednesday, March 24.

Earning a spot on the team was Elizabeth Aho, Andrew Berndt, Ashlee Siegle and Jack Zettl

Scholar-Athlete honors require athletes to meet performance standards, as they must finish among the first 20 runners at the conference championship and hold at least a cumulative 3.3 GPA and be a sophomore in athletic and academic standing to earn a spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete team.

Senior Andrew Berndt led the Bulldogs as he finished 12th in the men's race and owns a 3.84 GPA in accounting. Sophomore Ashlee Siegle combined an eighth-place finish in the women's race with a 3.61 major in kinesiology to earn the honor.

Senior Jack Zettl, a finance major, posted a 16th place showing and 3.63 GPA, while fellow senior Elizabeth Aho finished 11th in the women's race with a 3.59 major in sociology to round out the Bulldogs honorees on the squad.

A total of 29 student-athletes from the league's members earned the honor.
