Four members of the Drake University cross country teams have been named to the Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Scholar-Athlete Team, the league announced Wednesday, March 24.
Earning a spot on the team was
Elizabeth Aho,
Andrew Berndt,
Ashlee Siegle and
Jack Zettl
Scholar-Athlete honors require athletes to meet performance standards, as they must finish among the first 20 runners at the conference championship and hold at least a cumulative 3.3 GPA and be a sophomore in athletic and academic standing to earn a spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete team.
Senior
Andrew Berndt led the Bulldogs as he finished 12
th in the men's race and owns a 3.84 GPA in accounting. Sophomore
Ashlee Siegle combined an eighth-place finish in the women's race with a 3.61 major in kinesiology to earn the honor.
Senior
Jack Zettl, a finance major, posted a 16
th place showing and 3.63 GPA, while fellow senior
Elizabeth Aho finished 11
th in the women's race with a 3.59 major in sociology to round out the Bulldogs honorees on the squad.
A total of 29 student-athletes from the league's members earned the honor.
