The Drake University's men's cross-country team finished 14
th out of 27 teams while the women's team finished the 30
th team out of 33 women's teams Friday morning at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
The regional meet was hosted by Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla.
The men's team, which recently finished second at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, was led by standout sophomore
Adam Fogg, who finished 22
nd with a time of 31:30.5 in the 10-kilometer race.
Fogg was followed by Kevin Kelley (73
rd) a minute later,
Kyle Brandt (87
th),
Maximilian Fridrich (93
rd) and
Isaac Basten (99
th). Drake was the second highest finisher from the MVC, behind only Bradley, who finished 11
th with 310 points. The winner of the men's meet was Tulsa with a score of 37 who, along with second-place Iowa State, advance to the NCAA Championship. ISU's Edwin Kurgat won the race in 30:38.3.
Olivia Rogers paced the women's team with a 6-kilometer time of 23:03.6 (136
th) and was followed immediately by
Rachel Selva with a time of 23:05.1 (138
th). The scoring from Drake was rounded out by
Millie Bretl (149
th), MyKaela Cole (187
th), and
Elizabeth Aho (191
st).
The women's race was won by Illinois with a score of 108 followed by Tulsa. Iowa's Callie Logue won the women's race in 20:20.6.
The NCAA Midwest Regional concludes the season for the majority of the team, pending the final at large selections to the NCAA Championship field.
