DES MOINES, Iowa – Iowa State defeated the Drake University softball team, 12-5, Tuesday night in the home opener at Buel Field.
Drake (5-19) had its nation-leading home winning streak stopped at 28 by Iowa State (23-8). The Bulldogs last home loss before Tuesday was against Iowa on May 2, 2017.
Macy Johnson extended her career-best hitting streak to 27 games with her 13
th multi-hit performance this season. Johnson, who leads the MVC in batting at .506, went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a pair of runs and one run batted in.

Emily Valtman each had two hits. Anderson,
Aubree Beitzinger and Valtman each drove in one run.
As a team, the Bulldogs had 12 hits in the third meeting already this season between the teams. However, six errors helped the Cyclones, which tallied 12 hits, including two home runs. Iowa State's 1-4 hitters went a combined 9-for-15 with two home runs, nine runs and nine RBI.
Drake starts its Missouri Valley Conference home schedule Friday afternoon against Illinois State. The doubleheader starts at 2 p.m. and both games will be streamed on ESPN3.
