Corwin Named Pioneer Football League Offensive Player of the Week

Bulldog quarterback was nearly perfect in one quarter of action.

Drake University sophomore quarterback Ian Corwin has been named the Pioneer Football League's Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Sunday evening.

Corwin, who hails from Tulsa, Okla., led the Bulldogs to a 33-7 win at Butler Saturday behind an impressive second-quarter performance.

Despite only playing in the second quarter, he threw three touchdown passes and completed 7-of-8 passes for 75 yards to give the Bulldogs a 23-0 halftime lead. He also carried the ball six times for 67 yards.

Corwin was involved in 14 of the 17 plays he was on the field for either passing or rushing, with eight of those yielding a first down. His signal calling kept the Bulldogs out of any third-down situations while he was on the field as well.

His touchdown passes were for 32, 6 and 5 yards, while he had a long run of 31 yards.

Corwin and the Bulldogs return home Saturday, April 17, to close the regular season with a 1 p.m. game against PFL newcomer Presbyterian.
