CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Drake University's
Kristen Giles finished tied for second with a three-round score of 223 at the UNI Spring Invite to help the Drake women's golf team finish third out of four teams.
Giles carded rounds of 72-74-77 – 223 to lead the Bulldogs and finish in a three-way tie for second place, just one stroke off the lead set by UNI's Sydney Eaton. Giles' first-round 72 was the lowest to open the tournament.
Iowa won the event at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course with a 897 total. UNI followed at 917 while the the Bulldogs were at 926.
Sam Paulak finished 10 strokes behind Giles at 79-76-78 – 233 while
Haeri Lee carded a 75-79-81 – 235. Paulak finished 11
th in the individual standings while Lee was 19
th.
The Bulldogs will refrain from competition next week to prepare for the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, April 19-20, in St. Charles, Mo.
