IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Drake University men's golf team could not climb up the leaderboard during the final round of the Hawkeye Invitational as the Bulldogs finished in 11th place.
 
The Bulldogs finished the three-round event with a 300 Sunday for a total of 297-303-300 – 900. 
 
Nick Pittman led the Bulldogs Sunday with a 74 that included three birdies on the par 72, 7,157-yard Finkbine Golf Course. However, his 73 and 74 in the last two rounds couldn't overcome a first-round 78 as he finished tied for 44th at 78-73-74 – 225.
 
Shayne Patel, who fired a first-round 69, followed that with a 78 and 76 to finish tied for 38th at 223. 
 
In the final round, Sylvester Tan and Kyle McDonald both carded 75s while Tim Lim posted a 77. 
 
Iowa won the event on its home course with a three-day, 24-under par total of 840. 
 
The Bulldogs return to the course April 26-27 for the MVC Championship in Chicago, Ill.
