ST. LOUIS – 10 members of the Drake University football team have been named to the 28th Pioneer Football League Academic First and Second Teams, the PFL announced Wednesday, April 28. The league's football communications directors choose the annual academic teams.
Drake, which led the PFL with 10 all-academic selections, placed five student-athletes on the first team and five on the second team.
Ian Corwin,
Jared DeFriend,
Colin Howard,
Ryan Kriceri and
Danny Morales are on the first team while
Declan Carr,
Nathan De Bruin,
Will Kulick,
Cross Robinson and
Alex Rogers are on the second team.
It is the second-straight All-PFL Academic First Team honor for Morales, who was named to the first team in 2019. It is the first-ever All-PFL Academic honors for the other nine student-athletes. On Tuesday, Carr, Kulick, Kriceri, Howard, Morales and Rogers also each earned All-PFL honors.
PFL athletic directors established the Academic All-PFL squads in 1993 as a way to recognize the league's outstanding student-athletes. To be eligible for Academic All-PFL consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, reached his second season academically and played at least one full season at his current institution.
