FLOSSMOOR, Ill. – The Drake University men's golf team recorded its best round at the 2021 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship, but it wasn't enough to move the Bulldogs up the leaderboard as they finished the three-round event in seventh place.
The Bulldogs shot a final round 310 to finish at 314-316-310 – 940 and just four strokes out of sixth place on the par-72 Flossmoor Country Club. Loyola held on to win the event at 291-301-303 – 895 for a 15-over par total and withstand a furious final round charge from Illinois State, who shot a blistering final round of 2-under par 286. The Redbirds finished four strokes back at 307-306-286 – 899.
Kyle MacDonald continued to lead the Bulldogs with a 73 on the final day. Overall he finished tied for 10
th at 79-76-73 – 228.
Lucas Scherf just missed out on a top-18 finish as he was 19
th at 77-80-76 – 233.
Tim Lim and
Shayne Patel struggled in their final rounds to tie for 33
rd and
Nick Pittman rounded out the lineup in 36
th.
The MVC Championship concludes the 2020-21 season for the men's golf team.
