DENVER – The No. 2 Drake University men's tennis team had its 2021 season come to an end with a 4-0 defeat Friday afternoon by the Omaha Mavericks in the second semifinal match of the Summit League Men's Tennis Championship at Denver Tennis Park.
 
No. 3 Omaha took a 1-0 lead after winning two of the doubles matches. Hugo Piles Ballester and Davis Lawley defeated Drake's Oliver Johansson and Reid Jarvis 6-3 on the No. 2 court of doubles. On the No. 3 court, Philip Olsson and Ethan Henry secure the doubles point for the Mavericks overcoming Benedek Herman and Evan Fragistas, 6-3.
 
The Mavericks capitalized on the momentum from the doubles matches pushing the lead 2-0 as Ballester beat Fragistas 6-2, 6-2 on court No. 3. Fellow Maverick Olsson pushed the lead 3-0 after defeating Gabriel Sardo 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 5 match.
 
Omaha's Abdoul Ouattara sealed the win for the Mavericks coming from behind to defeat Herman 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 2 match.
