Megan Meyer has joined the Drake University women's basketball team, Suzie Glazer Burt Head Drake University Women's Basketball Coach
Allison Pohlman announced Thursday, June 10.
"We're ecstatic to add Megan to our team!" Pohlman said. "She is a versatile shooting guard with a high motor that has a tremendous basketball IQ. She really fits our up-tempo style of play and is an outstanding addition to our culture."
Meyer, a 5-8 guard, played two seasons for the Hawkeyes and appeared in 40 career games. Last season, she saw action in 29-of-30 games, averaging 8.8 minutes and 2.3 points per game while shooting 41.1 percent from the field and 90.0 percent from the free throw line.
Meyer was a four-year standout for Mason City High School helping the Mohawks win an Iowa Class 4A State title in 2016 and qualify for the state tournament all four seasons. She scored nearly 1,900 career points, broke single game and season records for made three-pointers and set the record for most points in a game. As a senior, Meyer was named to multiple first-team all-state squads, served as a team captain and scored the most points in a single season in program history. She was a member of the All-Iowa Attack and was on the club's 2018 team that won the Nike National Championship.
Meyer was a 2021 Big Ten Winter Academic All-Conference selection. She plans to major in health sciences at Drake.
