The Drake University football team hosted media day on Thursday, Aug. 19 ahead of its 2021 season. Drake, which is picked to finish third in the Pioneer Football League's annual coaches' preseason poll, welcomed the media on Johnny Bright Field inside Drake Stadium.
 
Third-year head coach Todd Stepsis started the event with his opening press conference previewing the upcoming fall campaign and his team's progress through the first few weeks of training camp. Following Stepsis, media had the opportunity for one-on-one interviews with coach Stepsis and the Bulldogs' team captains, Mark Bach, Grant Gossling, Cross Robinson and Alex Rogers.
 
Drake played an abbreviated PFL slate in the spring of 2021 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, The Bulldogs returned all four of its team captains along with multiple starters on offense, defense and on special teams.
 
The 2021 season gets underway for Drake on Thursday, Sept. 2 when NCAA Division II foe, West Virginia Wesleyan College, visits for a 6 p.m. kickoff. The Bulldogs start PFL action at home against the Valparaiso on Sept. 25. All five of Drake's home games will be streamed on ESPN3.
