The Drake men's soccer team opened its exhibition season against Briar Cliff Thursday evening with a 3-0 win at Drake Stadium.
Drake's first goal came when senior
Juan Louis tried to score from the outer left but was stopped by a defender who mishandled the ball. Senior
Jaden Stevenson found the net with the loose ball, putting Drake on the board 1-0.
Louis later found the net and scored to put the Bulldogs up 2-0. Not long after, senior
Bradan Allen put a cross into the box that found senior
Istvan Wilhelms at the back post to put the Bulldogs up 3-0.
Briar Cliff was unable to get past the Drake defense. In the 83rd minute, Rodrigo Padilha de Oliveria attempted to score but was stopped by Drake goalkeeper
Tommy Williams.
Drake remains in Des Moines to take on Truman State Saturday Aug. 21 at Cownie Soccer Stadium in the team's final exhibition. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
