Saturday afternoon in its final match at the UND Tournament in Grand Forks, N.D.
Drake (2-3) won the first two sets in convincing fashion 25-17, 25-17. However, Montana (4-4) stormed back with 25-19, 25-20 and 15-7 set victories to emerge victorious.
Newcomer
Mariana Rodrigues, a transfer from Ohio University, led Drake with 14 kills on 35 attempts while
Emily Plock added 13 kills.
Kacie Rewerts continued her strong play at the net with eight blocks while
Ashlynn Kuhn added four blocks along with her nine kills.
Drake allowed Montana to hit .259 in the loss including a .400 hitting percentage in the fourth set and a .562 percentage in the fifth and decisive set. Elise Jolly came off the bench to lead the Grizzlies with 16 kills on 34 attempts.
The loss was the Bulldogs first of the weekend after the team blitzed Green Bay and North Dakota Friday with 3-1 and 3-0 wins, respectively.
The team returns to action next weekend at the Jackrabbit Classic in Brookings, S.D. with matches against Idaho, Southeastern Louisiana and South Dakota State.
