The Drake University volleyball team earned its third-straight win at the Jackrabbit Classic Saturday with a 3-0 sweep of South Dakota State to earn the Jackrabbit Classic title.
The Bulldogs cruised by set scores of 25-13, 25-13, 25-23 to improve to 5-3 on the season.
Mariana Rodrigues led the Bulldogs for the second-straight match as she had 17 kills on 29 attempts after posting 22 kills in Friday evening's win over Southeastern Louisiana. She was named Jackrabbit Classic MVP for her efforts, while Drake's
Ashlynn Kuhn and
Maddie Holt also earned spots on the all-tournament team.
Drake hit .327 in Saturday's win, with
Haley Bush adding 12 kills and 13 digs while
Emily Plock added seven kills and 11 digs. Bush also had five aces serving.
Maddie Holt guided Drake's attack with 23 assists and added two blocks on defense.
Crystal Burke's 11 kills led South Dakota State (8-3). However, she committed five errors as the Bulldogs held SDSU to .136 hitting.
Drake, which has won five of its last six matches, returns home next weekend to open Missouri Valley Conference play with a weekend series against Bradley and Illinois State. The series begins Friday at 6 p.m. against Illinois State.
