Drake's Ashlynn Kuhn has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Volleyball Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday, Sept. 19.
 
Kuhn, a native of Hudson, Iowa, led Drake at the net with 14 total blocks for a 1.27 blocks per set average to lead the Bulldogs to the Jackrabbit Classic title last weekend with wins over Idaho, Southeastern Louisiana and South Dakota State. Her performance also earned her a spot on the Jackrabbit Classic All-Tournament team and held Drake's opponents to just .109 hitting on the weekend.
 
She had seven blocks in the five-set win over Southeastern Louisiana and closed the weekend with three blocks in three sets against South Dakota State. In that win over Southeastern Louisiana, she had 11 kills and finished the weekend with 22 kills while hitting .236.
 
Kuhn and the Bulldogs return home this week to begin MVC action with a weekend series against Illinois State and Bradley. The league season opens Friday with a 6 p.m. match against Illinois State.
